Snow is falling and winter is coming but this doesn’t mean you have to cover up your style. Below are some exciting trends that will get you excited to go shopping for a new winter wardrobe. You might even have some of these items hanging in your closet already, so prepare to take to the streets in style.

Be Bold

When choosing a suit jacket for your next work party, remember to be bold. Opt for styles with padding or even just a little bit of ruffle to accentuate your shoulders and add interest to your look. Find what works for you. Shoulder pads from the 30s, 40s and 80s are hot right now, or you can always try something new with a modern puffy shoulder as seen in magazines and shows like Emily in Paris. The great thing about a shoulder puff is that it gives the rest of your body a slimming look, and draws the eyes up towards your face (don’t let that holiday glam go to waste!).

Loud and Proud

Have fun with all the colours of the rainbow. Get dressed in bright fuchsias (the colour of the season) and oranges, as these eye-popping colours will make you stand out in a crowd and showcase your epic sense of fashion. You might even want to add a lime green hat for a bit more fun. Find colours that compliment you, and practice pairing bolder colors together to see what suits your taste.

Classic Black

Black looks great on just about anyone, and the little black dress is a key pillar of the holiday season. Pair your outfit with bright colours for a dramatic pop. Give some edge to your classic black by wearing a cut-out top or showing a little skin. Other ways to elevate your all noir ensembles includes mixing textures in your outfit - velvets, sequins, feathers and corduroy are all prominent fabrics this season that can give your look some depth!Get the look that speaks to you!

Fashion in Motion

There is nothing like twirling around in some fringe to make you want to dance all night long. These free falling strings mimic your every move, giving you confidence with every step. Show off in fringe trimmed boots, a jacket, or go crazy with a full-on fringe dress. Any of these choices are sure to speak volumes about your personality, and transform you into a vision as you cross the room .

Mismatched

Get outrageous with your look by pairing offbeat colours and patterns together. Don’t be afraid to strut your stuff in a yellow tank top and orange bell bottoms while also adding houndstooth stilettos into the mix (sounds shocking? Don’t knock it until you try it!). Even if you think certain items might not go together, just try them out, do a little bit of experimentation and see how you feel. Express yourself with a wonky style that makes sense to you. Think Harajuku; it is still one of Japan’s iconic fashion trends today.

Get Lacey with It

Lace up flats are all the rage right now so pull out your gladiator sandals to pair with that new cocktail dress and shine like the star you are. Get crafty and add laces or ribbons to a set of shoes you already own, or personalize this trend one step further by doing this to combat boots, winter boots or your favourite pair of converse. You can twist and tie them around your ankles or up to your knees for a new look each day, while executing the perfect ballet-inspired vibe.

Now that you have some ideas for your next winter fashion statement, get out there and show off your styling techniques. After all, it’s all about exuding confidence with your wardrobe, and who doesn’t want to look fabulous?
