Hairstyles To Try This Winter

Seasons are changing, and so are our hairstyles.

Apart from being confident of how I look, there’s another reason why I would always want to keep my hair long (like, super long)--and that’s because of numerous hairstyles that I can play along with it. Now that winter is coming, people are going to start covering up. With that in mind, it’s our hair’s time to shine! We call our hair the ‘crowning glory’ for a reason, and that’s because it makes a lot of difference to a person’s appearance. Aside from that, it reflects an individual’s personality and style.

I know winter is already here, but mark my word, even if you’re wearing a puffy jacket or clothing pieces with neutral colours, your hairstyle can still make up for it. Don’t worry, we gotchu!

When preparing to go out or even when just staying at home, I’d always consider two things: my outfit and my hairdo. These two would always stick together. Normally, we would dress up according to our mood and agenda for the day. I also think that it works the same way with styling our hair (or maybe it’s just me because I have super long hair). Nevertheless, let’s not make this upcoming winter season a boring season and try to make some changes in our look!

For this article, I will be sharing seven easy ways to style your hair in cold weather. I personally tried all of them, and I think these are also the kind of hairdos that will fit the majority’s face shapes and hair type.

Side Hair Clips

This hairstyle will always be one of my go-to’s whenever I feel like I want to go all-out. I used this style during the first pandemic Christmas, which was in 2020. My purple hair was fading and my natural hair was growing, but I think I still pulled it off. The reason why I like wearing this on a special occasion is that it makes me look elegant. Also, it keeps my hair intact throughout the day so I would always feel confident and fresh.

To achieve this look, you only need bobby pins! However, if you want it more evident, I suggest buying the gold ones and silver ones to get the elegant look, or maybe go for pastel tones to achieve the chic and playful style.

Sleek Hair

I am so obsessed with this hairstyle, but for me, it’s the hardest one to pull off because I have full bangs! It took me a while to set my hair in this self-shoot I did during quarantine, but after applying rounds of setting spray, I managed to stick them on both sides (though I was very careful because a single move could make the bangs show up). Sleek hair would also be a nice choice for formal occasions because it’s simple yet stunning. Apart from that, it’s perfect for the winter because even if it’s windy, your hair won’t be as messy.

To achieve this look, you only need a very strong setting spray!

Mermaid Curls

Now, this is my point when I mentioned the reason why I prefer long hair. I know it’s a lot of work, but if I can achieve a magical look along with it, why not? I can speak from personal experience that dyeing your hair once in a while won’t be a terrible experience as long as you know how to take good care of it. I went from Ash Blonde to Ash Green to Full Pink to Faded Peach to Purple Hair before returning to my natural hair colour and it was a very fun journey. Just make sure to do your research and you’ll be fine.

To achieve this look, use a hair curler to create subtle waves. I prefer making the curls minimal, but it’s up to you whether you like it with high volume or not. If you could add some bangs, I think that’d be awesome! For the final touch, don’t forget to put a small piece of any hair accessory on your hair--could be one side or both sides, whatever you prefer.

Full Bangs

Having bangs could be a lot of work (with long hair, at that) and I often hear it’s not so friendly to all kinds of face shapes. But to our fellow women who want to try something new or totally out-of-your-zone look, then I suggest giving it a try! One of the advantages of having bangs is it makes you feel like you have protection in your forehead, which makes you feel less cold during winter.

To achieve this look, (please) go to a salon if you’re not confident with your cutting skills! You don’t wanna risk your hair’s glory because it takes a long time to grow it.

Two-Parted Mini Ties

Who says this hairstyle only suits little girls? Mini-ties are perfect for those who want to achieve a chic, cute, and youthful look. There are days when we just feel like we want to look different and that’s why this hairdo comes into existence. Wearing puffy clothes during winter seems too dull. I’m pretty sure you’re tempted to play around with what your hair is capable of, so don’t limit yourself and explore what looks best on you!

To achieve this look, grab two hair ties (could be any colour) and part your hair partially on both sides!

Beanie Style

Beanies could never go wrong and we all know that. Apart from protecting us from the cold, it looks very charismatic when worn. I collected a few pieces in various shades, so I can mix ‘n match them with any of my outfits. When I want to look casual, but lowkey fashionable, I’d always go for this style.

To achieve this look, all you need is a beanie (in different colors)!

Low Bun with Side Bangs

Imagine yourself sitting on a soft couch, wearing a cozy fur sweater, your hair gently tied while holding a cup of hot chocolate in both hands on a snowy night. For me, that’s the perfect scenario to picture in cold weather. The low bun is a very simple hairdo, but it’s the coziest hairstyle to try for the winter season, so I suggest you add this as one of your go-to’s as well!

To achieve this look, grab a small hair tie and make a low bun. Don’t forget to leave some strands of hair on both sides for side bangs because that’s the highlight!

Styling your hair can be frustrating sometimes, especially if you’re having a bad hair day. However, we should also start giving attention to our hair similar to how we seriously consider our outfits. Again, it is our crowning glory. If you’re wearing nice outfits, but your hair looks bad, it won’t make much difference. In fact, it might not even look good. On the other hand, if you’re just wearing simple clothes, but you have very nice hair, you’ll notice how it lights up your overall appearance.

After going through our list, would you consider any of these looks? What look excites you the most? Let us know in the comments!
